Canopy and Rafting Combo

On this Arenal Canopy and Rafting Tour you’ll get a double dose of adrenaline as you go on a series of 7 extreme ziplines through the rainforest, then down to the Balsa River white water rafting in Class ll and Class lll rapids. Afterwards you’ll stop at a nearby private farm where you will be served a traditional Costa Rican home cooked meal. This full day jungle adventure is a perfect La Fortuna canopy and rafting combo tour.

You’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven deep into the rainforest just outside of La Fortuna for your first activity, canopy ziplining. Your bilingual guides will fit you with high-quality harnesses and helmets before you hike to the starting point. One by one, you’ll climb a 54 foot tower to what may seem like the top of the world – where the only way down is by gliding across a series of 7 cables, securely strung from platform to platform, high above the forest floor.

This zipline course has been described as one of the most extreme zipline courses in the area, allowing you to zoom over 40 miles per hour. On a clear day you can see stunning views of the town of La Fortuna. You will also zip over the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall cascading 225 feet down into a pool of turquoise blue. And you’ll be getting a spectacular bird’s eye view!

When everyone has completed the zipline tour, you will go by air conditioned van on a drive that can take up to 1 hour, depending on road conditions, to get to the Balsa River. This is a moderately fast moving river famous for Class ll and Class lll rapids with time in between for wildlife viewing.

At the river your professional guides will hand out high quality helmets and lifejackets plus go over instructions and safety procedures. You’ll cover several miles, experiencing a series of adrenaline-inducing rapids mixed with serene interludes that will give your heart a chance to slow down so you can enjoy the scenery.

Half way down the river, your group will pull over to enjoy a welcome snack of fresh tropical fruits and cold drinks. At this time you can choose to go in for a swim if you like.

After rafting, you’ll be able to change into dry clothes and go to a nearby farm to enjoy a delicious, traditional home cooked Costa Rican lunch prepared especially for you. This hearty midday meal, called a “casado”, is a marriage of freshly cooked rice and beans with salsa, meat or meatless choice, and typical salad.

Included in this fast paced, full day tour are transportation, bilingual guides, entrance fees, safety equipment, fruit snack, drinks and meal. One way transport from your hotel in the La Fortuna area can take between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours driving time depending on the location of your hotel. Combined time of both tours, lunch and all transportation can range between 7 and 9 hours total. It is important to wear enclosed sport shoes that can get wet. Please bring bathing suit, sun protection, bug repellent, clothes that can get wet and dry clothes to change into after the tour. Cameras are fine for the ziplining tour but not recommended while on the river. Weight restrictions may apply to persons weighing over 225 pounds. Minimum age for participants is 8 years old.
